Very good insights, Leonard! I've helped several indie authors publish books before my cancer struck me down, and your suggestions are spot on! Thanks for posting.
All on point. I think managing one’s expectations and thinking “long game” is very important. Since I’ve written a trilogy, “repeat customers” are very important
I went through this craziness in Bulgaria, and it did gain me readers and a few extra bucks to cover up my expenses, and gain a profit. It was so exhausting, however, that I don't know if I can repeat it in the English market. Yet, that seems to be the road for me...
Bring back the 90s, honestly.
If the novel is (subjectively) great, and a publisher takes it on, off it goes to the bookshelves.
How social media has complicated and added so many hurdles to writing a good book :'(.
I hear you! The toxic world of social media has not exactly made things better or easier in many ways. That is my two cents anyway. :)
For my upcoming book, I've hired a marketing person to help me with marketing and promotion. Hopefully, I'll learn some good strategies!
I am sure you will! Marketing and promotion are so critical. I hope it goes splendidly for you. :)
Thank you, Leonard!

Thanks so much, Mikel! I appreciate your valuable feedback! :)
Thanks for the tips, Leonard - I'm working on my first novella so this will come in handy! :)
Exciting stuff! Let me know when your novella is done so I can buy it and share it with my audience. :)

Agreed, Jill. A loyal audience is so key.
even when they're small... very small :)
Yep! This says it all, Leonard.
Thanks so much, Brenda! :)

It is definitely exhausting. That is probably why I held off diversifying everything. Building up on various platforms is a lot of work.
I think that if Medium hadn’t collapsed I’d never have come here.
